What to check on your roof after a wind storm

Check from the ground first

After a wind event, start by walking the property and looking up at the roof from different sides. You may see lifted shingles, missing pieces or debris that has collected in valleys.

Look for changes, not perfection

No roof looks brand new forever. The main thing is to notice changes – new gaps, lifted edges or damage that was not there before the storm.

When to call for help

If you see missing shingles, exposed underlayment, loose tile or anything else that looks out of place, it is usually worth having someone take a closer look before the next round of weather.
